Tl;dr: If you have a new Verizon iPad with LTE service activated, have fun re-activating it if you ever decide to stop service I have a new Verizon iPad and had activated the LTE connection a while back for use while traveling. I subsequently cancelled the service before it could auto renew. I travel infrequently, so it is nice to be able to turn the cell service off and on as needed.or at least it was with past iPads. Apparently that feature no longer works with the new Verizon iPad. I went back into my iPad to reactivate the service today, only to be given the error message that the SIM was no longer valid. The error message said the following. Invalid Sim card Sorry, we cannot activate your device because the SIM card you are using has already been associated to another account and is no longer supported. Please visit a Verizon Wireless store or call 1-800-256-4646 for a new SIM card After seeing this message, I stopped by two Verizon stores today. Not one person there had any clue how to fix this problem. I asked them to simply give me a new SIM and let me pop it in and was told by no less than 5 people that there is no way to put a new SIM in an iPad and that the only way to get data service now was to attach a post paid plan to my iPhone account. Naturally, I balked at this. Both stores eventually told me to go to Apple if I wanted to get it fixed. When I got home, I called the number listed in that error message. A very helpful gentleman immediately recognized the problem I was having. He said that for LTE iPads, Verizon has not yet figured out a way to enable switching the account off and on at the customer's leisure. You can activate it, but if you cancel the service it basically bricks the SIM card. He was incredulous that they wouldn't give me a new SIM. Call Verizon and ask them to activate the sim card on your existing plan. If you do not have service with them yet go to a Verizon store and ask them for hel. If you want to use a new SIM in your Verizon phone, you'll have to activate it first. After that you can use it with your phone. To do this you have to make a call to. He called the store closest to me and the manager there actually argued with him that they were not supposed to give out new SIM cards without activating them on a post paid plan first. Finally the manager agreed to give me a new SIM after about 15 minutes of back and forth. I went to the store again, got the SIM and popped it in (which they did not offer to help me with at all). I am now able to reactivate my LTE service. Obviously this will be a problem the next time I want to stop and reactivate service down the road. I thought perhaps this was just an anomaly, but there are at least a few other people having this issue based on. Good to know. Keep us posted. Does anyone know whether the AT&T new iPad has the same issue? I'd be shocked if it does. For all of AT&T's coverage problems they actually have vastly superior customer care in my experience. Very good about pre-dating changes you make if you go over minutes, forget to switch off an international plan or otherwise screw up. I got the LTE iPad simply because AT&T's coverage isn't that great for their LTE. Despite the claims about fantastic coverage by Verizon it's pretty mixed here in Utah in my experience. Surprisingly in the San Diego - LA area I also got pretty mixed coverage as well. Often my AT&T phone got much better data coverage and speed. Ditto in much of Washington too. However when you do get LTE rather than 3G it really does rock. (Management LOVES the mobile hotspot feature for conferences, etc, etc.) Were you on wifi at all? We were able to fix the problem by hopping onto our in-house wireless and accessing the Verizon account. There were ~30 seconds of no connection, then the iPad hopped onto LTE just fine. I had the same problem. I stopped service when I was trying to troubleshoot why it wouldn't work on a trip, and when I went to restart, it gave me that SIM message. I took it to a Verizon store when I got back, and it took them about a half an hour to figure out what was wrong with it (they were fairly clueless on iPads). I ended up with a data plan that automatically adds data (rather than a pre-paid plan like the default). The downside is, I can no longer manage it from the iPad, and they didn't give me a number or login info for the Verizon website. So basically I am taking it on faith that they are charging me the right amount every month. I had the same problem. They told me that I would have to replace the SIM if I ever stop service and want to restart it. He could be wrong, and I haven't whether that is the case or not. He is wrong, at least technically. Typically, when someone closes their account, the agent will just burn the SIM, because it's simple and effective. However, the SIM can simply be deactivated as well. If you're going to temporarily discontinue service, be sure to tell the rep not to burn the SIM, because you plan to reestablish service in the future. Hopefully, they'll do it the right way. If not, AT&T is used to dealing with SIMs, so it should be fairly trivial to pop in to a store and grab a new one. I have a 64g verizon retina ipad and I've cancelled service and just restarted it in June. I restarted service via the ipad, and it took my verizon login etc just fine. Three Methods: This wikiHow teaches you how to bypass the trial version of Windows XP, either by using a stock product key or by using software to display your own product key. Note that you should only use the following information if you are unable to activate even though you have a legally-purchased copy of Windows XP. Note: The three methods presented here may need to be used together depending on the situation: • Changing the Windows XP Product Key Manually - includes instructions for how to use a stock product key to activate Windows XP. • Using the Windows Key Finder - provides the detailed steps to get the product key from your device using Windows Key Finder. • Fixing the Windows Activation Loop - is only required if you have already reached the time limit for activation and need to reset the loop. Activation is an integer part of the Windows XP operating system. Essentially, XP activation is designed to help reduce software piracy. According to Microsoft, 'casual copying' affecting XP is the behavior targeted with activation. But outside of the initial grace period of XP, users will only be able to use the operating system if they will activate their copy. Microsoft offers three alternatives to activating Windows XP, via the Internet, through a modem or by phone. Of course that there also are illegal alternatives to XP activation. Various cracks and workarounds circumvent Microsoft's antipiracy measure. But none of the above is the method to manually activate Windows XP presented in here. Apr 08, 2014 What will happen to Windows XP activation after April 2014? Product activation will continue indefinitely for genuine Windows XP licenses. Aug 26, 2008 Starting this week, we will begin deployment of the latest version of WGA Notifications for Windows XP. In addition to the usual updates to validation that. The object of this article is to let you in on a way to easily and effortlessly re-activate you copy of Windows XP after a reinstall. But in case you have to format your hard drive, or just the XP partition, and install XP all over again, you can spare yourself the time and labor to re-activate the operating system, according to the. All you have to do is make your way to the C:WindowsSystem32 folder and identify the 'wpa.dbl' and 'wpa.bak' files. Copy both of them to a USB drive or burn them to a CD. Format the HDD and reinstall Windows XP, but do not activate the operating system. Instead restart and boot into SAFEBOOT_OPTION=Minimal, press F8 during boot in order to access the SafeMode options. Navigate to System32 where you will be able to find the 'wpa.dbl' and 'wpa.bak' files. Since you already have the old files on your portable media simply rename these as 'wpadbl.new' and 'wpabak.new' and copy the old 'wpa.dbl' and 'wpa.bak' files in System32. 'Product activation makes sure that each Windows XP license is installed in accordance with the EULA and is not installed on more than the number of computers that the license permits. Windows creates a unique installation identification (ID) that is based on information from the product ID and a hardware identifier that are created when you install Window XP. To activate, use the Windows Product Activation wizard to provide the installation ID to Microsoft over the Internet or your phone line. The installation ID records an association of the product ID to your computer and a confirmation ID is sent back to your computer to activate Windows XP. Activation is anonymous, and no personal information is required to activate,' Microsoft revealed in relation to XP's activation process. Julian Wash, Contributor Dear Humans, Today I wish to return to your awareness an aspect of the Human condition that you hold literally in the palm of your hand. It boasts neither a whimsical shape, nor beckons attention as an oddity of design. Even to the most discerning eye it’s without specific form or detail. But hush not in its wake, for it’s as powerful as it is enigmatic. And it’s no bigger than the size of a dime, so it fits rather nicely in the palm. Indeed it does. For it is the seat of the palm I speak of. Some might think of this area as a sort of “lens” imbedded in the palm that can focus unseen energies within and around. Others will see it as an “opening” or a rotating vortex where the language of light is both spoken and heard. Still others will feel this spot as a tiny transducer rectifying erratic vibrations into coherent expressions of knowing. Others will just see skin. The area commands a space very near the center of the palm. How to activate Muladhara Chakra. Awakening Kundalini Shakti: Activating Muladhara Chakra. On the other hand inactive or an impure Muladhara Chakra. The chakras in your palms are not so much centers for storing energy like the seven main chakras are, but more channels through which energy can pass back and forth. The chakras in your hands are directly related to the balance of your heart chakra. Keeping your hand chakras healthy is very important. Activation and awareness of our hand chakras makes a major difference in the quality of life. Learn how to activate these chakras. How to open the Hand Chakras, About the Hand Chakras, Satanism, meditation, chakras, opening the Hand Chakras, empowering the Hand Chakras, the Hand Chakras. In more contemporary terms, it can be referred to as a or gateway that permits the ebb and flow of. This flow can embody inert physical matter and even zip into the mind of another instantly and effortlessly. For many this “sight” has not been fully realized and operates with myopic acuity at best. But for those who know, it’s a powerful and useful utility. As an idle energy, it resides in the subconscious. One must blossom this elemental into an active state of awareness. This is the first (and most important) step in activating the palm chakra. The following will describe a way to get to this first stage of activation. From there you will see a number of examples of how that tiny spot within your palms play an extraordinary role in everyday life. If your palm is not already beginning to tingle, I suspect it will be soon. The Activated Palm An activated palm tingles in a way, but can also feel warm, springy and generally energetic. If you take a moment and look at your palm you’ll begin to feel this center point. You may experience a sensation in the solar plexus as you go about activating your palms. The two seem linked somehow. Keep looking at your palm until you can feel a warm, tingly vibration at the center. Now command this chakra to open, you may choose to visualize it as a reddish circle but most any color will work. Keep visualizing the circle as it grows to the size of a dime or until you feel it pulsing within your palm. Be patient, it may take a few tries. Some seem to benefit by briskly rubbing their hands together for a moment to heighten sensitivity. Rub the hands then hold them slightly apart and try to sense an interplaying vibration. As it starts to activate it’s really an interesting feeling. You’ll get the sense you can hold an object and energize it somehow. Well you can. This is the sort of energy a “psychic detective” can sense in a forensic investigation. After you open this chakra you may choose to close it using the same technique in reverse. After a little practice, you’ll be able to open your palm chakras instantly and on demand. This will not be the first time you’ve activated your palms. Not a chance. You’ve been doing it your whole life. But for some it may be the first time of being consciously aware of it. To those that were successful in activating their palm chakras, I applaud you. And speaking of “applaud,” as I move my hands together in a rhythmic pattern I am actually modulating my two palm chakras in accordance to the happy feeling I have. The faster I applaud- the higher. Why does applause exist at all? There’s nothing logical about slapping ones hands together to make sound. It seems quite primitive really. I can assure you it has much to do with modulating the palm chakra. A slow and steady clap is a very different vibration than an excited and erratic clap. Different energies belie different intent and meaning from clapper to the “clapee.” Any stage performer will tell you there is no song more beautiful than the sound of robust applause. Even if this activation was not successful I still applaud you because well because you’re beautiful. A Song of (Psalms) Palms Holding hands with the one you love communicates a vibration through the palms. These are lyrical and poetic expressions of coherent energies that are particularly strong during the courting period. Holding hands will communicate degrees of happiness and even relay the most subtle notes of nervousness and uncertainty. You hold in your palm an ability to interface with a myriad of frequencies that range from the coherent exchange of energy from one partner to another to “hearing” messages in the ether. Those who meditate with their palms facing up receive a very different energy than those who face their palms downward. For those that haven’t tried meditation with upward palms, I think you’re in for a big and pleasant surprise. Activate your palms prior to meditation and allow this energy from above to be brought in. You may have your own unique way of modulating this etheric light. There are many () or ways of varying these energies. There are no ardent rules in this domain. There are many esoteric examples of how palm energy plays a role in everyday life. One example would be the “laying of hands” on the injured. Such an act can promote healing and healthy wellbeing as any practitioner of Reiki will attest to. Also, hands held in a prayer circle promote a heightened sense of connection and can manifest a positive change in a very short amount of time. You will notice that a palm is placed on when one swears an oath to office or takes the witness stand in a court of law. Would such a ritual matter if the palm did not possess? It is curious that the hand is placed “down” on the Bible rather than under it. As an observer of energy this strikes me as backward. Don’t get me wrong, there are wonderful dense energies from Earth, but there’s also some trouble lurking down there. As a curious remedy somebody else is usually holding the Bible as the oath taker places their hand upon it, so the energy takes a rather interesting course. You will also notice that the right hand is held up, leveled with the speaker. This is how the energy is being transferred. Be very wary, however, of any “swearing in” ceremony on a Bible sitting dormant on a desk. Many who engage in prayer clasp their palms together. This creates an internal loop and commissions energy from within. Those who “praise the lord” hold their palms upward toward the sky, again a very different vibrational experience, though both are examples of. A palm over the heart during the “pledge of allegiance” promotes an exceptionally strong energetic transfer. It’s a profoundly powerful gesture that one should understand before engaging. This is why I’m not an advocate of children participating in any “hand-held-over-heart” ceremonies or allegiances brought on by peer pressure, academia, sport arenas or any other venue that serves to bolster the concept of. The procedural “pledge of allegiance” is a very potent, powerful, ritualistic form of magic that should solicit “adult only” participation. There are those I see who are clearly under the spell of this ritual, as they were conditioned early on, as were the generations before them. To be clear, “love of country” and runaway patriotism are two distinctly different vibrations and the heart of a child should not be forced to navigate between such conflicting energies. No disrespect intended here. Those who read my essays know that I hold children in the highest regard and it is my foremost desire to protect them energetically. I sense those that see themselves as “Americans” will understand this sentiment. Those who lovingly embrace the title of “U.S. CITIZEN” may not. If one understands the difference then this will not be an issue, otherwise I apologize for falling off topic. The transmission of palm energy can be felt through an instrument played by a musician or in the way a conductor or magician waves a (magic) wand. For a writer, the instrument may be a pen. Even food held by the palm is in some way influenced. Secrets of the palm (and just about all other high level understandings of ) have been coveted by religious orders, brotherhood societies and those who think they know what’s best for you. Nowhere in the course of a watered-down, standard, sterile, bleached-dipped “education” are you told about your higher abilities. Palms Up, Palms Down One is commissioning different energies depending on how they gesture their palm. During meditation, a palms-up orientation will allow a very powerful connection with (Source). Such a position commissions the ethereal realm, the rarified domains of. The energy of this position can be redirected in the form of a “wave” (or waveform) when greeting another. When waving to another the palm is usually facing toward them and sends a friendly greeting. A British style of salute is also known to poise the palm slightly forward presenting a more affable posturing. Most salutes, however, position the palm downward. The most infamous would be the German Nazi salute. Adolf Hitler was an ardent student of the occult and engaged in dark sorcery and knew exactly what he was doing by promoting this manner of salute. The palm is accessing lower energies from much lower realms. The American style salute is less obvious, slightly skewed (and so less toxic) but also commissions energy from lower realms. Even though the handshake is commonplace within the armed forces, the handshake is only between persons of the same seniority in the same rank. A junior cannot shake hands with a senior, instead he must salute him (or her). Royalty will not shake hands with “commoners” and sometimes not even with heads of state. It is considered an insult or disrespectful for a so-called commoner to even attempt a handshake with a “royal.” What are they trying the hide? I might hazard a guess but that would be for a future narrative. The blunt palm forward also signifies an emphatic order to “stop!” This is an example of palm intention, where you can literally feel the message. The “stop” gesture is a powerful signal often associated in safety-related matters. It does not harness energy from above or below, but rather exchanges from one to another. Eye of the Handshake was not a fan of the handshake. He also possessed knowledge and a gift for vision of invisible forces within and around him. Conjecture on my part, but I sense he was very aware of the “eye of the handshake” and chose to maintain a modicum of privacy. I’ll attempt to explain. We’ve been “taught” that the (ritual) of the handshake has ancient military origins and was used as a gesture of peace by demonstrating that neither warrior held a weapon. This is completely ridiculous. Somehow, someway this erroneous concept has been promoted and accepted by most people. Apparently it is not necessary for you to know that you can access the thoughts and feelings of another through the modality of the handshake. Upon shaking the hand of a fellow Human one can visit the mind of another, for they are permitting access via the gesture. Otherwise such a clairvoyant entry might be considered a form of psychic trespass which Universe does not encourage. A sensitive (with open palm chakras) can accurately attune to the intent of another through the energy transferred in a handshake. Some are able to sense a good deal more, such as specific details of the others childhood, personal problems, their fears and so much more. Never underestimate the “eye” of the handshake. The “handshake contract” is still considered by many to be the most valid form of a contract. If one’s intention is pure then the handshake will validate it. Final Thought There is so much more on this topic that it can easily fill a book or two. Suffice to say that you have a beautiful gift right in the palm of your hands. You can energize objects, connect with the ethereal, embody Earth densities and even (talk) to the Sun or moon all by way of this vital vibration. The chakras of the Human body are there for a reason. You are a being of consciousness, an entity of light. There are no limits on what you can do or where you can go. You are a vehicle that can move faster than light and can manifest an entire reality out of clays of vibration. Did a nail in the palm create this opening? I’m not certain. What I do sense is that these powers are real and are here to serve you. There have been countless atrocities inflicted upon the Human race. This must end. Divine instruments of great power were created to change this course and are now available and (awakening) within those with ears to hear and eyes to see. Dear soldiers of light, I applaud you. -Until next time About the Author There is a certain obscurity that follows Julian Wash. It may interest you to know that the traditional British army salute, as it was taught to me as a CCF cadet, had the palm facing 100% forward for the first half of the ritual gesture. In fact it starts with the right arm down at your side with the palm flat and facing forwards; then the hand is raised laterally in a sweeping 2D curve until the back of the fingers are touching the forehead and right eyebrow – the hand and forearm are in a straight horizontal line. It is lowered by turning the elbow inwards and making a downward slicing movement ending with the hand flat against the right thigh. There is no tilt at all if it is done by the book. This is significant in the light of your article; and if it has been altered over the years that would also be significant in some way. [The officer, if (s)he returns the salute, makes a much more informal version of the gesture] •. You people are so irrational. It’s such a shame to see/read/hear people who clearly have the desire to be questioning, cross the line over to irrational and senseless. The rational middle is a very fine line and unfortunately all too often people fall by the way on either side. Palms don’t hold any mystic energies or spiritual power, they simply provide an external projection/extension of our inner thoughts and will, but they can be used to obfuscate that also. “Why does applause exist at all? There’s nothing logical about slapping ones hands together to make sound. It seems quite primitive really. I can assure you it has much to do with modulating the palm chakra”Yes, ORRRRR, there is something extremely logical about using an auditory indication of your appreciation of whatever/whomever receiving the applause. The truth is, however “primitive” it may seem, it is a genuine acknowledgement that comes from the individual/group of individuals. There would not be as much power in say, a recording of applause or something completely different because the cultural acceptance would not be there and nor would it hold the ‘collective individual’ power that a genuine applause gives. If you really want to “awaken” yourselves, start challenging things with a rational mind. As the saying goes “it’s great to have an open mind, just not so open that your brains have fallen out” •. Julian Wash is right. A book or two could be devoted to hands, palms, the handshake, hand signals and hand symbolism. In the practice of sun gazing one assumes the “fire blooming” position by lifting the arms and stretching them towards the sun with palms facing the sun. This is apparently an ancient Greek practice. Then visualize the sun’s energy entering through your left palm, traversing your heart and any part of the body in need of healing, passing through the solar plexus and returning to the sun by exiting via the right palm. You could say this is prana entering and clearing certain chakras. If interested google “fire blooming” and connect to the article about sun gazing under. Early on I was coached to give a “firm handshake” at a job interview, thereby suggesting I “mean business”. Out of habit, now years later, I still do this and still measure people in part by the sincerity of their handshake. The “dead fish” handshake, or the hand shake where one makes contact only with several limp fingers, to me thus signified (and still does) mistrust, fear, deviousness, and anything but honesty. From this article I see that the preeminent part of the handshake is the palm contact. I also have new insight into people who don’t or won’t shake hands at all. In some cultures (Afghanistan, for instance) total strangers on a first meeting will shake hands locking their palms in a light but full contact grip and maintain this handshake for the duration of a long greeting and conversation. This handshake might last anywhere from 2 to 10 minutes. The longer the handshake the more likely it is that the two strangers will then sit down and share tea in a teahouse. Product Background The ModuLoader Pocket Shield was conceived by Chris Fry, owner of MDTS Training, and was co-developed with, and manufactured. The Pocket Shield is a flexible, modular platform which allows an individual to securely and discreetly carry a small defensive implement (such as a firearm, pistol magazine, fixed-blade or folding knife, flashlight, canister of pepper spray, expandable baton or other impact weapon, multi-tool, etc) inside the front pocket of jeans or dress pants without visible pocket clips or printing. The Pocket Shield is shaped to ride comfortably in the front pocket of most pants, and provides consistent orientation within the pocket to facilitate quick-access and deployment of an individual’s light or weapon. The platform is made from flexible, high-strength polymer that conforms to the shape of the user’s body for all-day carry comfort; yet it is rigid enough to remain anchored securely inside the pocket during strenuous movement or weapon deployment. The unique mounting slots on the Pocket Shield allow users to attach nearly any small knife sheath or pocket holster to the platform at a wide range of angles. It can even be trimmed by the user to facilitate achieving a full fighting grip on the weapon or to fit in smaller pockets. The Pocket Shield not only provides a stable platform – it masks the profile of whatever is attached to it. This is especially important for those who must wear dress pants or other garments made with thin, clingy material. Prototypes and pre-production units of the ModuLoader Pocket Shield have been tested and fielded both domestically and abroad in a variety of non-permissive environments, with excellent results. This simple tool is a must-have for anyone conducting low-profile/no-profile missions. Like all RCS products, the ModuLoader Pocket Shield is 100% U.S.-made, and is covered by our unconditional lifetime guarantee. Here are some pics with various set ups from beta-testers and end-users utilizing a variety of attachments methods and configurations. Some best practices for attaching items to the pocket shield include: 1. Knife, multitool or flashlight integrated clip 2. Chicago screws for small fixed blade sheath attachments 3. Same set up but now ride height in pocket is adjusted downward by moving the clip. Molding the Pocket Shield The ModuLoader Pocket Shield is made with a moldable, high strength polymer that will conform to the end-users leg inside the pocket. Eventually, different thicknesses of the shield will be available for purchase. Some may prefer a thinner shield while others, who may want to mount heavier EDC items, may desire a thicker or firmer shield. Hand molding the shield to the desired curvature based upon your body type and shape is easy to do and the polymer will eventually “set” to the curvature you want. One trick we have found to facilitate this setting process faster is to rubber band the shield overnight, similar to “brimming” an old school baseball cap. I completed the Practical Small Knife Skills class hosted by Short Barrel Shepard, material taught by Chris Fry. This was a two day class, with day one focused on deployment and use of folding blades and day two building on first days skills, adding more technical abilities. Being a martial arts instructor myself it was a great pleasure to meet and study with Chris, he breaks down the material into easy to digest sections, clearly explaining each skill or task, then providing time to rep-it-out. Day one ended with us pressure testing some of these skills, which was a welcome chance to see what works or doesn't work (pressure testing was voluntary). The class was full, with a wide range of ages, abilities and backgrounds. Everyone seemed to enjoy the material and be fully engaged throughout. Chris is very friendly and approachable, paces the class well and presents a solid foundation to this material, highly recommended - check him out! Here is a review I posted on my blog. 'MDTS Practical Small Knife Skills 12.2-3.17 In what was planned as my last training event of the year I journeyed to Jordan, Mn to participate in MDTS Practical Small Knife Skills 1 and 2. The training was hosted by my friends over at Short Barrel Shepard and conducted by Chris Fry. Chris is a member of the Shivworks Collective and based in New York. I had not taken any edged weapons training since I took Alessandro Padovani's Safer Faster Knife Defense Class back in May 2015. I decided I needed to fix this gap in my training. Chris is very adamant about not letting details of his instruction get in the wrong hands. So I will not be getting into too much detail here. Suffice to say Chris is an outstanding instructor and you need to get to a class of his if available. Chris divided his weekend of instruction into Practical Knife work and Technical Knife work. Day 1 was all practical as we learned techniques and principals using edged weapons to essentially get someone off us or create space to escape. We talked about equipment, techniques, targeting and gear configurations. Then pressure tested these different configurations to see if they actually worked. As with all Shivworks material, pressure to validate the training is a huge component. I think it is the most valuable component. Day 2 was technical, more 'martial artsy' blade work. Primarily using a fixed blade, we talked about jabs, cuts, point driven methodology and guards/parries. This day was spent drilling at low pressure to practice these techniques. This day was full of a ton of information. I learned a valuable instructor development lesson as well. About 1400 I became so overloaded with information that I couldn't even remember whose turn it was to run the drill. This was powerful stuff. It reminds me in my own instruction to look for these signs of overload in my students and to pace the course accordingly. Both days ended with a debrief and emphasis of key points. Things I learned or that were re emphasized from earlier training 1. I will not be carrying a folding knife as a primary defensive tool if possible. Ease of access under pressure is just not there. Small knifes can be very effective and may leave a better 'impression' during the legal aftermath. Everyone gets stabbed in a knife fight, how much and how badly is up to you.' I took this class because I wanted to feel more comfortable carrying a firearm. I believe it is important to learn from people who are experienced and know what they are talking about. I walked away with more knowledge than I had prior to taking the course and it really opened my eyes to the reality of how predators target their victims. It made me actually want to carry my gun for self-defense purposes. I am a small person who could easily be overpowered by someone if the situation were to arise and now I feel that I will be more aware of my surroundings when out in public. I highly recommend this training to anyone who owns a pistol. I plan to take more courses offered by MDTS in the Utica,NY area. I completed Practical Pistol Skills 1 after having a pistol that I have never shot. Chris was a wonderful instructor. He knows how to differentiate the instruction to the ability level of the shooter and still keep the more capable shooters engaged. He and his assistant were patient and helpful and knowledgeable. Tasks were broken down to simple steps so all could follow them but most important of all was the way safety was repeatedly stressed. I gained confidence in my ability to use a gun without feeling like the novice that I am. Just completed Practical Pistol skills 1 after being a pistol owner for almost 2 years and hardly using my pistol. I feel 100% more confident and comfortable carrying and using my pistol. Not just at the range but in a real life event. Very new to carrying/shooting, Chris was spot on in his instruction and made it SO easy so newbies to learn. Even for students that are familiar with shooting this was a great course, Chris individualized teaching to each and everyone of his students. I would recommend this course and MDTS training to anyone, moms, dads, young, old.Chris uses such an individualized approach anyone can do this! I look forward to taking another course with Chris in the near future. To start with I'm a neophyte when it comes to the shotgun to it didn't take much to dazzle me with shotgun skills (which Chris definitely did). But what really struck me was Chris' depth of knowledge of the subject and his ability to convey this knowledge to both beginners and experienced shooters with an dexterity that is reserved for true masters of their craft. I have been training and teaching self defense for 25 year and running a full time school for 16 of them and I have a HUGE appreciation for how Chris layers the concepts and skills in his class. Get to one as soon as you can. When I first became a gun owner in 2013 I didn't have any illusions about the need for training. At the same price point that other trainers offer these beginners NRA classes, Chris's Practical Pistol 1 offered a beginners class that still challenges more seasoned shooters but allows novices to learn with noticeable improvement towards the end of the course. I recently took one of his courses and at this range every single time you eject a magazine they land right in the sand which resulted with me having 2 malfunctions that day. Thanks to the skills I learned 4 years ago I didn't miss a beat. His courses are civilian minded, the drills make you think and not just mindlessly putting holes in paper, self defense shootings, incidents and real world data will influence the content of his courses, Chris and the other instructors who help out are very knowledgeable and will answer any questions you have.Regardless of your skill level you cannot attend one of his courses and not walk out a better shooter. He is one of the few instructors willing to provide training in Long Island beyond the NRA offerings and I especially recommend MDTS to those who have no formal training at all. Chris is a great teacher. Chris has a great attitude, and is very approachable and he encourages any and all questions you may have. It's obvious he loves what he does and he is very good at it. His first concern on the range is safety, and it shows. Everything he teaches is spot on. I took the Practical Concealed Carry Skills course and it was great. He teaches you how to draw from the holster correctly. How to get on target quickly. How to smoothly squeeze the trigger. The correct hand grip. Everything he teaches I teach in my classes. I will attending his Practical Skills 2 course in Sept. And I am looking very forward to it. Once again i would like to thank Chris Rob and Tommy for another awesome training class. Chris' knowledge skillset and teaching methods are nothing short of impressive. Ive attended a bunch of pistol training classes and my skill level has drastically improved. I definitely take alot home at the end of the day, this level of training keeps me sharp in between classes. I certainly enjoy seeing old friends we train with and meeting new ones, although they are serious class' we do get some really good laughs. Thanks man Russ B read more. When I took my first class from Chris several years ago, I was at an impasse, I was shooting a lot but could not hit the side of a barn. Chris spotted the problem (my strong side arm got all tensed up) and I was off to the races. I make it a point to attend Chris's classes every time he comes to my club, because Chris's training is the real deal, things I need to know to use a pistol safely and effectively. When Chris comes to town, I urge my friends to sign up. JUST DON'T TAKE MY SPOT!!!!! Chris Fry has been a practitioner in, and teacher of, various self-defense schools and methodologies for decades; he has trained with the giants of the field, and continues to learn from the best. This is apparent in his teaching. He expertly takes this multidisciplinary knowledge and works it into a curriculum that is practical and helpful for all of his students. His thirst for self-improvement is never-ending. Chris compares and contrasts various techniques, and explains why he does something, without being judgmental of others. He continually reviews multiple sources of information and freely shares it with his friends and students without reservation. Moreover, Chris is friendly and engaging, making his class fun. I can't recommend more highly any classes taught by M.D.T.S., regardless of your personal skill level or experience. Chris is an excellent trainer and skilled in many facets of self-defense. His style is to build up a person's skill set with clear instruction to the group and then action on the range. Each new piece builds upon the last one. By the end of the course, you've learned proven and useful skills to take home and develop further. I'll admit, sometimes the reality of not performing well under stress can be humbling, but the only failure would be to not apply those lessons towards your future training and preparedness! Safety is paramount at all times, but this review would not be complete without mentioning just how much FUN the classes are! Chris and his team are a bunch of great guys, hands down. For anyone serious about improving their skills and protecting their home, family and self, sign up for a class. Just got back from attending Practical Pistol 1 today. This was my first time training and I went into it with an open mind and willingness to hear what I was doing wrong. In fact I was hoping to have the instructors find flaws so I could work on changing them. Right after the first drill Chris was able to point out something I was doing that I never thought was a problem, but just being made aware I was doing it (looking over my sights to check placement after my shots) I was immediately able to improve my grouping on the next drill. Throughout the rest of the day Chris and E.J. (the instructors) were able to help me identify a few more weak points and provided useful info on how to alleviate them. On the other side, when I was performing well, they added levels of complexity to the drills (like moving while reloading) that helped push me just a bit more. I honestly feel like I walked out of today's course a better shooter than when I walked in. I also feel much more confident in my ability, and have a clear path on how to continue progressing my skills. I would absolutely recommend MDTS to anyone. Whether a complete novice or an experienced shooter. The ball is now in my court to apply the skills I learned today (I absolutely plan on drawing and dry firing each time now, the point about different clothing behaving differently was an excellent one) and I hope to be back with Chris and MDTS as soon as possible. Awesome experience. As the The Well Armed Woman LI Chapter Leader I have had the opportunity to train with the 'best of the best' training instructors, and I have to admit that Chris is at the very top of that list. I was highly recommended to his Practical Small Knife Skills course. I was so impressed with the content of the class and my new found skills (not to forget 'fun' taking the class), that I needed to return for another class with our chapter members. All we can say is Wow!! Thank you Chris for another amazing night of learning and training. TWAW LI can't wait for our next class!!! 5 Plus Stars!!!! Chris hands down has definately one of the top programs going. From the first time shooter to experienced more experienced professionals it's always an informative learning experience. Chris's practicality and techniques and knowledge in so many different platforms and styles is top notch knowledgeable and it saddens me to have left NY and to miss out on the classes. I've spent numerous hours in his classes sometimes taking the same class numerous times and it is well worth the investment in time and money. Anyone looking to take the first or next step in their knowledge I highly recommend any of these programs. DEFINATELY one of the best in the country read more. 10/16/16: Practical Pistol Skills 1 (Sackets Harbor, NY): Chris, thank you for a great first experience. I had an amazing time and learned more then expected. You and Jimmy are a great team and awesome instructors. I am excited to get my next training on the books with you. This is a class I would recommend to everyone regardless of your experience level. As a women and first time hand gun owner, this is a must take class. You will leave this class with a great foundation and knowledge of how it utilized your pistol as a defensive tool. You will leave this class with confidence to carry daily and the desire to train harder. Thank you MDTS team for providing me with these skills that will help me to continue developing myself as a Well Armed Women. Chris Fry is an outstanding orator and conveys his material utilizing a well thought out curriculum. Chris has the ability to engage his students, and keep them focused on the subject matter, while keeping things lighthearted and interesting. If you are not incorporating reality based 'force on force' evolutions in your training than you are doing yourself a disservice. The MDTS curriculum is focused on the applicable laws of self-defense, the physical capabilities needed to defend yourself of another, the proper physical tools, the right mindset, and testing preconceived theories in a reality based training environment that forces people out of their comfort zone. Thus far I've taken 2 classes with MDTS and am currently signed up for an additional 2 classes. I highly recommend Chris Fry and MDTS for your training needs. Michael Reed read more. To start Chris is a great down to earth guy. He wants nothing but to give you the most value he can while keeping his classes very affordable. Great classes for any skill level. I had only got my permit 4 days before before I took the pistol 1 course. Safety is #1 in his classes and he also makes them enjoyable. Loved switching it up from paper to steel in the class kind of like instant gratification. There is never a dumb question and no shortage of one on one help to get you to shoot as good as anyone else in the class. When my colleague told me that we were going to this training, I was dreading it because I just received my permit and had gone to the range maybe twice and thought I'd be lost at this seminar. I was also super intimidated by my gun and handled it like it was a grenade. After taking this course, I walked away with a passion to learn more and a real appreciation for the privilege of carrying concealed. When my gun malfunctioned at the range I'd put it down and yell for my friend to help me, now I can clear a malfunction in seconds. I never wanted to wear my pistol and after this course, I never want to take it off. This course should be mandatory for anyone who carries. Chris, your an amazing instructor and I'm thankful to have learned from you. Thanks again looking forward to future courses! I highly recommend Chris Fry and M.D.T.S for any training that a new or experienced gun owner may need. As someone who has over 20 years of military training and 10 years of martial arts training I find Chris Fry to be one of the most competent trainers that I have ever had the pleasure of training with. His courses are well thought out in both theory and execution. Each course starts with the basics and then quickly ramps up. The tempo and rhythm are challenging yet achievable, and each evolution builds on the last one and involves the last skill set learned. Chris not only gives outstanding lectures and platform instruction but also demonstrates what the drills expectations are, yet his most admirable skill is how he coaches on the firing line. He is not military or law enforcement trained yet possess the skill and training methodologies that teach you what we need to know no matter if you are military, LEO or a civilian in need of quality training. Very instructive class at New Paltz with Chris Fry. I hope to get one A-HA moment out of each training class. This one moment makes the whole class worthwhile. My A-HA moment on Saturday involved knives and knife carry. I hate folders; I own folders, but I am not coordinated enough to deploy a folder during periods of stress. Sooo.I carry a small, fixed blade. Easy to access and deploy weak side, not so easy strong side. I saw Chris carrying a 'clinch pick' mounted just below horizontal at about 10-11 O'Clock during one of the breaks. New addition to my EDC, easily accessed and deployed with either hand. Thanks Chris! Chris is one of the most articulate trainers in the business. In 26 years of police work I have seen almost every major trainer in the business and Chris is one of the best. He has a unique prospective as a civilian concealed carry holder and life long, elite level, martial artist. He has a deep understanding of empty hand, knife, handgun, and long gun. Chris is especially competent in the extremely close quarter range. Chris could teach to a spectrum of clients from absolute beginners to elite level competitor's, law enforcement, and military. MDTS is one of the few companies I regularly recommend for training. I recently upgraded my Mac OS to Leopard (10.5). Had to re-install XAMPP, but can't get it to work on the new OS - everything appears to start properly and according to the XAMPP 'status' page, all is working. However, when I attempt to load the phpmyadmin tool at, I get an error telling me to check my server/php logs. Message is 'Cannot start session without errors, please check errors given in your PHP and/or webserver log file and configure your PHP installation properly' I've tried to figure out whether there is a configuration problem in the php.ini file - it seems to point to the right mysql.sock location 'var/mysql/mysql.sock'. Running php scripts via command line mode. Deactivate all the php extensions forst the deactivate php the activate php. What's preventing my php on Leopard. Beyond that, I'm baffled. No data was received to import. Either no file name was submitted, or the file size exceeded the maximum size permitted by your PHP configuration. See FAQ 1.16. My settings are all good inside the php.ini file in terms of file upload size & max size, so FAQ 1.16 is not the solution to this specific issue. One thing I have noticed is an SSL error when shutting Apache down with the XAMPP console - wonder if it's related to this, and what the issue could possibly be? I've read that security is much tighter in the Leopard server configuration, but am lost again as to how to get this thing up & running. As noted in my posts on installing Apache, PHP and MySQL on Mac OS X, Mac OS X comes pre-installed with Apache and PHP. Unfortunately, as of Mac OS X 10.11 ( El Capitan) the pre-installed version of PHP is still 5.5. As PHP 5.5 has reached, the pre-installed version of PHP in Mac OS 10.12 ( Sierra) is still only PHP 5.6. So what do you do if you want to upgrade or install a different PHP version on your Mac? Well, you could use. But I found a pre-packaged alternative -. PHP OSX is a package installer for PHP versions 5.3 to 7.1 (current). It’s available for Mac OS 10.6+ ( Snow Leopard to Sierra). While installing PHP OSX is just a few steps, I’ll walk you through each of them. Installing PHP First, choose the version of PHP you want to install. In this example, I’ll install PHP 7.1 as that is the latest stable version of PHP. However, if you want to install PHP 7.0 that is available as well. Curl -s| bash -s 7.1 If you’re not comfortable executing scripts from the Internet, you can do the. Configuring Apache Provided you are using the pre-installed version of Apache, PHP OSX will add the /etc/apache2/other/+php-osx.conf configuration file which will automatically be loaded by Apache. If you had previously enabled PHP (as I did), you’ll need to comment out the following line in /etc/apache2/httpd.conf: LoadModule php5_module /usr/local/php5/libphp5.so Updating your PATH Although Apache will now run the new version of PHP, the command line will not. In order for the command line to use the new version of PHP you will need to update your PATH. Export PATH=/usr/local/php5/bin:$PATH If you don’t want to run the command above every time you open a new terminal, you can update the PATH in your.bash_profile. Vi ~/.bash_profile Configuring PHP Finally, you will want to update some of the PHP configuration values. PHP OSX installs a PHP INI file for you to change. To edit this file, run: sudo vi /usr/local/php5/php.d/99-liip-developer.ini If you kept all of your local PHP configuration within a single INI file (as I did), you can simply append it to the PHP OSX file with: sudo cat /Library/Server/Web/Config/php/local.ini >> /usr/local/php5/php.d/99-liip-developer.ini That’s it! Now you’ll just need to review your PHP code to ensure it’s compatible with your newly installed PHP version. And for that, I recommend. Find this interesting? Continue the conversation on or in a. |
